Recently hc1 High-Value Care Director, Tony Tetrault, joined a panel of Indiana companies focused on developing innovative COVID-19 solutions for a Life Sciences Lunch Series presentation hosted by Barnes & Thornburg LLP and Indiana Health Industry Forum (ihif).
“It’s difficult to anticipate this once in a 100 year pandemic, but planning is paramount. Make sure that you have an effective plan in place,” he said. “Make sure you have the tools ready and you empower your business leaders, your supervisors to effectively deploy this plan. Don’t underestimate the power of planning.”
In his presentation, Tony noted how the important role the laboratory plays in healthcare has become widely recognized as a result of COVID-19 and shared the innovative ways hc1 is helping to make laboratory testing insights more accessible and actionable for communities and decision-makers. “We’re really looking forward to biologics and treatments and vaccines, but there are things we have to put in place like the PPE, wearing our masks and physically distancing and having the proper policies in place to ensure we have a safe work environment,” he said. “That’s hard to do when you have a robust, large business. If you have 20, 30, 40 employees, it might be easy to manage all of the data with a clipboard, but when you have a business of 3,000+ employees, multiple sites, multiple campuses, multiple floors, it’s hard to really track down who’s positive, who’s been exposed, what kinds of things trigger, being consistent from one department to another, one supervisor to another.”
